Acts 4:23-37

Today’s devotion is written by Nancy Peed.

Acts 4:29  And now, Lord, look upon their threats, and grant to thy servants to speak thy word with all boldness, while thou stretches out thy hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of they hold servant, Jesus.

Acts 4:31  And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.

In reading this account of Peter’s and John’s reaction to having been warned by Temple authorities to speak no more about Jesus the Christ,  I was reminded once again that we are all called by God to speak of Him with boldness.  In this fragile, divisive world in which we are living, I believe the Holy Spirit to calling on each of us to speak boldly about a God who loves all people, who heals the broken and who brings justice and peace.  This may not always be easy, but if we pray for the Holy Spirit to guide us and we speak with love and humility, we will be able to speak boldly in the name of Jesus.

When was there a time when you felt called by God to share boldly?

How can we learn to let the Holy Spirit guide us in speaking?

Prayer:  God, Our Father, grant us the wisdom and courage to proclaim your good news to others.  May  the Holy Spirit always guide us and give us courage.

One response to “Acts 4:23-37”

  1. Simply put, I need to get better at talking with others about my relationship with God. Thanks for the nudge. : )
